This year of 2010 has been a revelation to me as to the ins and outs of Social Media. I take it as a marketing given that a business should be utilizing internet Social Media opportunities if – and this is a big IF – that business has a desire to be known farther afield than its own geographical neighborhood.
Organizations can no longer guarantee work and careers, even if they want to. Jettisoned employees are finding that their hard won knowledge, skills and capabilities earned while being loyal are no longer valuable in the employment market place. Longevity was a sign of employer-employee relations; turnover was a sign of dysfunction.
I have only raised my voice in the workplace twice during my career and both times I have regretted it tremendously. Resist the temptation to give way to emotional decisioning and you’ll see your career and company soar to new heights of success.
