In July, Hewitt released a report showing that for the quarter ending June 2010, 46 percent of the 900 organizations it tracks experienced declines in employee engagement versus 30 percent of the organizations that experienced improved employee engagement. While this sounds simple enough at face value, I have consistently found that one of the most often overlooked leadership attributes is that of a positive attitude. I don’t know about you, but it’s almost as if we have raised a generation of leaders who feel they have a moral and ethical obligation to be politically correct – WRONG. In the end, leadership that adopts politically correct behavior and thinking places themselves and their organizations at great peril.

One morning I attended a session that Ted holds each week with his leadership team and a select number of potential leaders. During the time the group discussed one chapter in a leadership book they were reading together. There were about 30 people in attendance. Ted stood upfront where he spoke and facilitated the session.
