Sometimes as managers we get too caught up in the big picture and forget to focus on the details. In a business enterprise, leaders must take care of employees who, in turn, are responsible for taking care of customers, stakeholders, and related outside parties, such as the government and the community, in an ethical manner.
When was the last time you paused to reflect on your beliefsystem? Work ethic. By educating, encouraging ethical behavior, and inspiring people to do their best, we can reduce the need for excessive rules and regulations. As Alexander Hamilton said, If you dont stand for something, youll fall for everything.
Put another way, most leaders haven’t figured out how to deal with the challenges of integrating different generations and their respective beliefsystems. Bottom line: if you don’t have youth represented in your senior management and leadership teams – get some. As a leader you must get this right or fail.
I don’t know about you, but it’s almost as if we have raised a generation of leaders who feel they have a moral and ethical obligation to be politically correct – WRONG. Beliefsystem failing in company – you’ve lost faith in the company’s ability to perform. Poor management – acting in their own self interest, can’t sell better than you.
