Because you are doing such great work, she’ll soon tap you with her enchanted wand and sprinkle you with sparkly fairy dust and you’ll get that key project, significant promotion, raise, bonus or new career that you’ve been waiting for. Will they benefit or at least not be further deprived?” ~ Robert Greenleaf The concept of servant leadership can often seem the antithesis to many organizational cultures, where top-down, command and control are the norm. This is exactly what Robert Greenleaf intended. And, what is the effect on the least privileged in society?

Discuss the importance of their commitment: It is important for them to know that they are responsible for their own actions and career. When they make a promise to follow through on an action that will further their career, they should follow through. This shows they are committed to themselves as well as the relationship.

A friend of mine, Scott McKain, introduced me to Clint Greenleaf and Greenleaf Book Group and the rest is history. I was stuck in the status quo, following the past rules – instead of challenging that same status quo that I wanted to write about. I loved my editorial experience with them and the book is the book I wanted to write.

Not sure where this was instilled in my work life but is always a factor when starting a new job/career at a company. The problem I do run into though is the resources to do this.
She separated herself from day to day operations: Instead of being intimately involved in all of the inner workings, she trusted her managers to do that and then to come to her with issues and barriers that required her assistance. She coached her team to help them understand the appropriate way to proceed with how the work needed to be done.
