My biggest heartbreak involved the Great Blue Heron who perched atop the duck box in the pond just outside our kitchen window. Along the way he or she scared the bejesus out of a Great Blue Heron – one I hadn’t noticed before, that was sitting on the dock in the lake. I wrote a poem asking how I could say goodbye.
