After some lengthy interviews with each director and extensive desk research on the business finances, operations, and history, I introduced the notion to them last week that their business was grounded, barely standing still, and as far from a legacy company as they might get. Think of strategy as an academic exercise.

The challenge, of course, is getting a refined set of values and definition of well-being with the buy-in of dozens, hundreds, or thousands of employees, all of whom have their own values and cultures they bring to work with them every day. By definition game changers happen, they exist, they have life. By definition, a game changer causes change. Would you agree that a game changer by definition is not incremental? The longer we consider it the more it fits that definition you just outlined. If you forget the people, you cannot have a game changer.
In addition to testing, developing a solid set of interviewing questions to sniff out any character flaws is also a good idea. I don't know anyone who hasn't made a bad hire, but it should definitely be the exception and not the rule. that can be administered as part of the hiring process.

If your mentoring and training programs don’t focus on the development of action oriented leaders then you are simply breeding obselesence, and utlimately…failure.
