Even in the smallest communities, someone owns (or manages) the local grocery store or serves as the bank brach manager. I’m trying to learn leadership and management practices…not theology…in these groups. These can be mid level managers or senior executives. Are You a Leader or Manager? They meet a payroll.
Managing conflict as a leader is a critical part of creating healthy cultures. . What I’ve also learned – some through painful experience – is the way I handle conflict when it develops will go a long way towards allowing the disagreement to work for the overall good of the team. This sometimes causes conflict.
Speaking up at work is generally seen as a good thing, and the likes of Harvard’s Amy Edmondson have spoken and written at great length about the value of psychological safety at work.
