Let's Abolish Self-Appraisal

An employee's self-appraisal and rating should give the manager valuable data on the quality of an individual's performance. A performance appraisal is a record of a supervisor's opinion of the quality of an employee's work. It's a deceptively attractive technique. That's wrong. The review meeting is a discussion, not a negotiation.
