Nike Layoffs Announcement to Affect 740 Employees by June 28

The Nike layoffs announcements from back in February will soon finish taking shape in June, as 740 employees from their World Headquarters in Oregon will be asked to leave. The company had announced a 2 percent reduction of the workforce, targeting a reduction of at least 1,600 employees over time. Nike’s layoffs within its workforce are part of a much larger cost-cutting strategy after their last annual report in December did not see profitable results to the degree the company had expected.

Older Adults Better Able To Focus And Avoid Distractions

A study from Washington University in St. Louis reveals that as we get older, our minds tend to wander less. Even when older adults do daydream, they’re more inclined to be pleasantly distracted rather than caught up in worries. In the study, researchers enlisted 175 adults aged 18 to 35 and 175 adults over 60. The participants were given a simple online task, like pressing the spacebar whenever an animal name popped up on the screen.

Researchers at the University of Cambridge and Jaguar Land Rover teamed up to create a smart algorithm that can make driving safer. This algorithm predicts the best times for drivers to use in-car systems or get messages without causing distractions. They figured this out by testing it on real roads and using fancy computer learning.
