Situational theories of leadership generally propose that leaders choose the best course of action based on variables that change from situation to situation. The Path-Goal Theory of Leadership was developed in the mid-’70s by Martin G. House and draws heavily on an earlier theory by Victor Vroom called the Expectancy Theory.
