If your organization confuses loyalty and tenure there is trouble on the horizon…If your business rates tenure higher than performance as a measure for employee evaluation, it is time for you to consider updating your talent management practices and procedures. Self-Serving Nature : If a leader doesn’t understand the concept of “service above self&# they will not engender the trust, confidence, and loyalty of those they lead. Successful leaders focus on customer satisfaction and loyalty. They are active listeners, fluid thinkers, and know when to press-on and when to back-off.

Some employers believe in providing a little something extra to all employees during the Holiday Season as an expression of gratitude for their loyalty and contributions during the year without regard to performance. I personally dont feel bonuses work to promote a good work ethic. An idividual either has it or doesnt. Happy Holidays.

I wasn’t getting the answers I wanted from the one person I was talking with – he kept saying “no” – so I politely ended the call. Delighting customers doesn’t build loyalty. Last week I called my cell phone provider to modify the service, cancel a line, add a data line, etc. Reducing the work a customer.

Place ad in an unusual venue, attend a political events, support a new cultural organization, or even be friendly at the Health Club. Loyalty is paid for one way or another. Metaphors from nature, sports, and travel are very useful to generate repurposed solutions. Curiosity is necessary to develop cross-sectoral techniques.

In many organisations influence is a function of previously proven experience (earned stripes so to speak) and people who are fresh to the organisation, with different ideals and approaches and who are less politically connected may find their ideas sqeezed out by institutional knowledge and cultural dominance. Let me expand.
