I don’t know what got you out of bed this morning, but I do know that it probably wasn’t your company’s missionstatement. There’s a good chance you don’t even remember the missionstatement itself, but an even better chance it doesn’t inspire you to jump out of bed and head to work. Is it market share of products?
It’s important to understand that vision statements are design oriented, while missionstatements are execution oriented. In fact, it is the corporate vision that should determine its mission. The vision is bigger picture and future oriented, while the mission is more immediately focused on the present.
