By Linda Fisher Thornton Employers using stretch goals to motivate employees to higher levels of performance need to take note of the ethical risk. If the push for higher performance doesn't come with an emphasis on ethical behavior, it may be encouraging cheating.
Their forward-thinking approach and ability to inspire trust and motivate teams significantly determine the company’s relevance, resilience, and overall growth trajectory. Companies led by ethical leaders often see increased employee satisfaction and better financial performance. Leadership qualities are paramount.
However, very few companies educate leaders about ethics and encourage leaders to discuss ethics with their teams. Ethics are usually an afterthought, taken seriously only after an event that causes a business or team to fall apart. Ethics are the foundation for peace and progress.
