While there have been thousands of books written about leadership, there are a handful of leadership models that have served me well as a leader and leadership development practitioner. These are the tried and true models that have shifted my thinking about leadership and help create teachable leadership moments for others.
However in reflecting upon my presentations and client engagements, I’ve noticed that it’s not an infrequent occurrence to find that even the most savvy executives misconstrue certain basic leadership ideas. Some individuals openly seek out positions of leadership, while leadership is thrust upon others.
SituationalLeadership ® is a common-sense, contingency-based leadership model that consists of four common leadership styles. Contingency-based” basically means the correct answer to the question: “What is the best leadership style?”. Answer: It depends! Answer: It depends!
